Play vs. Other Schools / Programs

When you are playing other schools, make sure you cover the rules with the opposing coach before you begin.  Other schools might allow pressing, you may not be ready for it, or vice versa.  Agree on that with the coaches and the ref before you start.

We have had some teams in the past involved in very hostile away games – rough play, refs not calling hard fouls, etc.  Don’t put the kids in danger, and don’t put yourself and your parents in a bad spot that can only escalate.  At that point, just end it and leave.  Let someone in the PAL Leadership (Leif Roberg or Dennis Kiefer) know and the appropriate staff at the opposing school will be contacted. 

Travel Squads

•All games will use the home court rules and referees:  BE PREPARED when traveling.  Remember that we represent Coxsackie-Athens, appropriate behavior is expected by all.

•If you have an away game against Ravena, inform your players’ parents that Ravena charges to get in to their games.  Many other programs are also charging these days as a way to get revenue for their travel team programs.  Be prepared.  We do not charge for PAL games.

•If your team or players are in a hostile or dangerous homecourt situation, pull them off the court and leave.

•All players must play in the travel games if they attend.  Playing time is up to the coach, but no one must sit the bench the entire game.  Players MUST play the PAL game also on the day of a travel game.
